Lawrence E. Haley, Pastor of Calvary Southern Baptist Church is a native of Blytheville, Arkansas where he spent his childhood until his family relocated to Compton, California. In 1966 he received his diploma from Compton High School and was drafted into the United States Army soon after. Upon completion of his military service, Pastor Haley returned to Arkansas where he graduated from the Arkansas Police Academy and became a member of the Blytheville Police Department. He continued his education in law enforcement through attendance at the University of
Kentucky National Crime Institute and Mississippi County Community College (now known as Arkansas Northeast College) where he earned two Associate degrees, one of which was in Criminal Justice.
In 1973 Pastor Haley answered his call to the ministry. He earned a Bachelor of Religion degree from Arkansas Baptist College, Little Rock, Arkansas; a Master of Ministry degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary and was bestowed Doctor of Divinity from Arkansas Baptist College in 1987. Pastor Haley served as a civilian Chaplain at Eaker Air Force Base near Blytheville, Arkansas and was later selected to serve as an Assistant Prison Chaplain with the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was the Pastor of Gospel Temple Baptist Church in Luxora, Arkansas for 20 years and also served as Pastor of Christ Temple Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas for 10 years. On September 1, 2008, Lawrence E. Haley became the Pastor of Calvary Southern Baptist Church in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently, he is also serving as a member of the Executive Board of the Nevada Baptist Convention.
Pastor Haley is a gifted teacher, a prolific student of the Gospel of Christ and is a humble Christ-centered man who leads his congregation by example.
Pastor Lawrence E. Haley has been married to his wife Jacqueline for 41 years and they are the parents of five adult children and ten grandchildren. When time permits Pastor Haley enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, reading and collecting books.
